When flights are canceled, many travelers are stuck and looking for quick ways to get back to India from the UAE. Because of regional airspace closures, normal travel plans are being affected. Passengers whose flights have been canceled or who don’t have confirmed departures may need to think about other ways to get there.
The UAE has said that flights will only be able to start up again in a limited way, and safe air corridors have been set up in cooperation with Gulf countries. The system can currently handle 48 flights per hour.
If you can’t get a direct flight from the UAE to India, there are other ways to get there.
- You can take a bus to Muscat and then fly to India
- You can fly from Ras Al Khaimah to India with a stop in Muscat.

Bus Ride from Sharjah to Muscat for Flights to Other Places
If you’re stuck, you can take a bus from Sharjah to Muscat and then fly to India from Muscat International Airport.
SalamAir and Oman Air have set up bus rides from Sharjah’s Jubail Bus Station to Muscat International Airport for people in the UAE whose flights are still canceled.
Schedule for the Bus Service
The service is available at these two times:
- Morning: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM in the evening
Passengers must be at the right station at least 30 minutes before the train leaves. You also have to buy your bus tickets ahead of time because you can’t get them at Muwasalat Al Jubail Bus Station.
Before using the bus transfer service, travelers must book their next flight through SalamAir or Oman Air.
Visa Requirements for Indians Traveling Through Oman
Before starting their trip, Indian citizens who want to travel through Muscat must make sure they meet Oman’s visa requirements.
eVisa
People who want to visit or travel to Oman must apply for a Visit or Tourist visa ahead of time through official travel agents or the Royal Oman Police website.
Visa on arrival
Indian passport holders who have a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, Canada, Japan, or the Schengen countries can get a visa on arrival. They can go to Oman for up to 14 days without a visa if they have:
- A ticket for the return trip
- Making a reservation at a hotel
- Health Insurance
Indian citizens who live in GCC countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE) and have valid resident cards can also get a visa on arrival. Passports must be good for at least six months.

Flights To and From Ras Al Khaimah and Muscat
Air India Express has added special travel options for people who are going back to India.
Until March 7, the airline is running special flights from Ras Al Khaimah to Delhi, Kochi, and Mumbai.
Air India Express has also confirmed that it still runs scheduled flights between Muscat and several Indian cities, such as
- Delhi
- Kochi
- Kozhikode
- Mangaluru
- Mumbai
- Tiruchirappalli
The airline has also added more flights between Muscat and Delhi and between Muscat and Mumbai until March 7. This gives travelers more choices for getting back to India.
These extra flight services and alternative routes give passengers who are having trouble with their flights practical ways to get to India when direct flights are limited or not available.
